Rocket Systems
The Rocket Systems subgroup focuses on the development, production and operation of sounding rockets with the goal of incrementally increasing the capability of each new rocket. As of October 2025, four launches were performed.
Our rockets
Our first rocket was STARMOON, which launched in October 2022 to around 600m. We improved on that rocket with our second rocket STARDUST which launched to around 1500m in September 2024. Unlike our first rocket, this one was carrying an experiment. Our third rocket, MOONDUST, launched to a target altitude of around 1200m, with the goal of onboarding a new generation of BEARS members and verifying Recovery and Avioncs system redesigns for our next launch. Our fourth rocket, STARGAZE, launched at EuRoC in October 2025.
We are currently developing AEROBEAR, which will be our fifth rocket. It is planned to be launched around the end of 2026, with the goal of verifying major system redesigns for future rockets. We are also working on a custom liquid or hybrid engine, which we hope to integrate in time for EuRoC 2027.
Our team
Our team consists of around 30 highly motivated students from diverse study backgrounds, including Aeronautics and Astronautics, Transport Systems, Computer Science and Geotechnology. We try to push ourselves harder every time we develop a new rocket to make a more advanced rocket. We are also very interested in participating in competitions like EuRoC.
